Collate provides a suite of capabilities that make every data workflow AI Native: skills, memory, plugins, automations, and conversational workflows. It is organized around three primitives: Connect (activate the context AI needs), Reason (act on governed meaning with skills and automations), and Remember (build an organizational memory that compounds).
Skills are named, reusable AI capabilities composed from plugin tools. A skill bundles a plugin's tools with a trigger condition (when the skill should be used) and an instruction (what the AI should do). Once defined, a skill is callable from automations and chats, and each skill tracks where it is being used, so a steward who built a "GDPR Foundations" skill can see it running across automations and chats.
Organizational Memory is the layer that turns one-shot AI into AI that compounds. Every correction a steward makes, every definition a team agrees on, and every question an analyst asks and how it was answered becomes context for the next interaction. Memory is a first-class object: addressable through the API and the UI, and tagged to the data assets it relates to.
Plugins connect Collate's AI to systems outside Collate over the Model Context Protocol. The platform ships system plugins for GitHub, Slack, Confluence, and Notion. Custom MCP servers connect through a single Add Custom MCP Plugin flow that auto-discovers the tools the server exposes: paste a URL, run Test Connection, get a populated tool list.
Describe the work in plain language, like "scan the sales schema for null spikes every weekday at 9 AM and send the results to #data-quality," and Collate picks the right agent based on the prompt and the data sources involved. There is no agent selection dropdown and no manual wiring. Results arrive as either a chat-style debrief or a structured findings table with severity and one-click follow-up.
Every action taken by an AI agent is captured in an AI Audit Log alongside every action taken by a human. In the UI, an AI-Generated Badge shows what an agent wrote and what a human verified, so a downstream reader sees the provenance at a glance. The audit trail is designed to support the regulations that AI accountability now codifies, including the EU AI Act, DORA, BCBS 239, DPDPA, and GDPR.
Yes. The AI Native Experience defaults on for new customers and the free tier when Collate 2.0 ships. Existing Collate customers will see it roll out in the months that follow, and the legacy UI remains available until each team is ready to switch.
